When things seem to be falling part, through meditation we realise things are actually falling into place...
I was introduced to meditation in the year 2000 when I was struggling with severe depression and anxiety attacks when living in London. After a string of events that occurred in my life when I was about 25, my whole life started to feel out of control and I couldn't get a grip on reality and control my anxiety. The negative thoughts, grief and obsessive over-thinking was too much for me to cope with from the moment I woke up to the time I went to bed. Sleep was the only relief and escapism from the intense negative emotions I was experiencing.
During this time I happened to stumble upon the North London Buddhist centre where I was introduced to Buddhism and meditation - it was like a breath of fresh air to my heavy mind so I continued to visit the centre. I also studied reiki and used the beautiful healing techniques on myself before I started giving healing sessions to others.
Eventually through meditation combined with energy healing and zen therapy I started to regain my sense of self and become stronger and steadier and built myself up again from the inside out.
I migrated to Australia in 2002 and soon after commenced a diploma in Transpersonal Counselling. I continued to meditate as often as I could realising I can regain control of my life by working on my mind and thoughts. Meditation has since been the anchor helping me transition through any harder moments in life and guided me to where I am now. I now know that anything that challenges me in life can be resolved internally through meditation. Sometimes it isn't easy to practice as often as I would like, but I now live a life of contemplation and mindfulness... always being aware of how my internal world feels and what it needs.
Anyone can learn this beautiful tool for life, all you need is a desire to master your own thoughts and the desire for more inner peace.
