Jake Cassar has spent over 20 years doing survival missions. This totally unique experience, mixed with Jake’s extensive knowledge and passion for edible native and introduced plants (weeds) for both survival and medicinal purposes, makes this day not to miss.
This is a very unique experience and for those that know Jake or has been on one of his educational walks, will know just how much knowledge, wisdom and passion that he packs into such a short amount of time. Jake will start with an introduction to his important conservation work, before taking the group on an epic bush tucker walk to show us how we can all survive by living off our incredible native and introduced plants! |
Jake’s presentations/tours are upbeat, interactive, engaging and include a comprehensive display of native and exotic plants and an in-depth description of some of the plants' uses. Jake will share information on how to make rope from tree bark, fire from sticks, soap from Wattle leaves and much more.

ABOUT JAKE
Jake is a passionate conservationist and bushcraft teacher specialising in edible and medicinal native and introduced plants in Australia. Jake is well known for leading successful campaigns to create new National Parks on the Central Coast and for raising funds and awareness for local charities such as homeless outreach centres, youth support organisations and animal welfare groups. Jake is fast becoming known as one of Australia’s foremost authorities on edible and medicinal plants, and has been referred to as a “Bush Tucker Guru” by the Daily Telegraph and “Aussie Bear Grills” by the Today Show on Channel 9. Jake has featured on Triple J radio, ABC radio, The History Channel, and National Indigenous Television (NITV). Jake has spent most of life fine tuning his survival knowledge in what he calls “The University of the Bush” and has taught himself much of what he knows through personal experience living of the land for weeks at a time. Check out Jake's website: http://www.jakecassarbushcraft.com "The first time I went on one of Jake’s walks I felt I had learnt more in two hours than I had in two full days at other courses. Jake’s walks are practical, colourful and experiential, giving you a chance to really digest and embody useful bushcraft techniques and information. Apart from being a walking encyclopedia of plant knowledge, Jake is a genuine community builder who truly wants to help others do good in the world. His passion, enthusiasm and huge heart make him a great teacher" - LK |
